(BERLIN, GERMANY-- FRIDAY JUNE 23TH-SUNDAY JUNE 25TH 2023 ) – The Department of Culture of Neukölln in partnership with the KINDL Center of Contemporary Art, is pleased to present "And...I'm Out!", an installation piece by Stefanos Schultz as part of the 48 STUNDEN NEUKÖLLN Festival Showcase titled Play(ground)

Play so that you may be serious.” (Anacharsis),

directed by Katarzyna Nowak and curated by Canberk Akçal

/ENG/ On a sunny day,
Before seeing you,
Near the seaside
When I dance
"I close my eyes"
fading into eigengrau.

From 23rd-25th June, the KINDL Kesselhaus hosts "Fading Into Eigengrau", as part of 48h Neukölln. Inspired by this year's festival theme "Play(ground)", the exhibition inhabits new room structures, in which the playfulness of the space has been created/re-created through colours, new methods, Kitsch and movement. Coming from the question of "How can someone create a personal space in physical and psychological level?" the KINDL Kesselhaus becomes a bridge between inner and outer self.

In this work, Schultz revisits the feeling of carefreeness and how it coexists with adulthood, exploration and play. The installation captures the anticipation of a "hide and seek" round, and the countdown leading up to the moment of revelation, in years passing.

Using clay and metal, as well as plexiglass, Schultz is commenting on the organic and the materialistic, the present and the fantasy, the hidden and the exposed, the trapped and the protected.
